Welcome Address by the Chairperson of the MEM International Graduate Program, Professor Masaaki Tanaka
The MEM International graduate program welcomes all of you from all over the world, who are going to study at the University of Tokyo. The Graduate School of Engineering at the University of Tokyo stands at the forefront of innovation from basic researches to the most advanced applications, aiming at sustainable development in the 21st century.
As Chairperson of the interdisciplinary MEM Program, I would like to highlight the following aspects of the MEM program:

MEM includes five departments: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Information Systems, Materials Engineering, Aeronautics and Astronautics, and Chemical System Engineering.

All lectures are given in English.

We now have more than 250 former MEM students from many countries since the program began in 1999. After finishing the graduate course, they continue to be valuable collaborators with us and to contribute to further advancement of the fields, where they studied during their participation in the MEM Program.
I hope that all of you will enjoy the MEM Program and that this unique experience will become an important stage of your careers.
